About Me
Alyssa Mahon is an emerging Barbadian multidisciplinary artist currently based in Canada who specializes in a variety of traditional media. Inspired by her personal connection to the people and places around her, her work explores various themes in a non-conventional manner with a focus on color, form and texture.
She recently graduated with honours from Humber College with a diploma in Visual and Digital Arts, and will attend Sheridan College for Advanced Special Effects Makeup in January 2024. She has achieved an associates in the humanities from Queens College Barbados in 2020, as well as being on the regional merit list for CAPE Law in 2020. She was a recipient of the Jamie Simmons Memorial Award by Humber College in 2022 and was awarded the City of Bridgetown Maxine McClean annual scholarship in 2022.
In November 2020, she was one of the two participating artists in the Pricesmart Roadshow in Barbados as well as a vendor at the Art Splash Cafe in Barbados that same year. She has had work exhibited in the Gerrard Art Space for the 2023 Heart Show, in Blitz Art Gallery for “Love in All Forms” and at Lakeshore Arts for The Gathering: The Art of Black Culture and Heritage. Most recently she was a participant in Nuance, an exhibiton held in the Humber L Space Gallery.
